How to treat constipation with a fiber-rich diet

Making dietary changes is very important to treat constipation. Fiber-rich food increases intestinal movement and softens the stool, making it easier to pass.

Good sources of fiber include whole grains, oats, brown rice and bran. Fruits like apples, pears, and berries are rich in fiber, which improves digestion. Green leafy vegetables like spinach, fenugreek and bathua also help in relieving constipation.

Include cucumber, tomato and carrot in your daily salad. These are not only a good source of fiber, but they also contain high water content, which keeps the body hydrated.

Along with a balanced diet, regular exercise also helps in reducing constipation. If constipation does not improve even after these measures, it is necessary to consult a doctor.
